Ten Top Clubs To Check Out For Your Barcelona Holiday

Alright guys,

For all of you looking to have a great time during your Barcelona holiday, I have come up with a list of 10 top clubs within Barcelona, where you are sure to get down and have an excellent time. Just as a sidenote, I have not ordered the clubs from best to worst or visa versa. All right, here we go…

1. Ghoa Beach Club – Located just on the outskirts of Barcelona (Badalona to be exact), Ghoa is an excellent summer time club, offering an entirely open air setting, with two different stages, about 6 different bars, and swimming pools for later on when the audience starts to feel good. Good for techno and other electronic music. Sundays are nice as well, as they have chill out and a very relaxed ambiance.

2. Row 14 – Again located slightly outside of Barcelona, Row 14 is another excellent summer time venue, offering an open air chill out zone, where you can relax, talk with friends as well as meet new people, grab a drink, and recuperate from the pulsating beats going on inside. Again, excellent for Techno and other forms of electronic music, such as Drum n’ Bass.

3. Apolo – Located in Barcelona’s Raval neighborhood, Apolo is a venue hosting many different types of shows, from rock concerts, to techno after hours, to theater performances, to their infamous Nasty Monday’s, showcasing electro and 80’s style rock. Definitely a must for your first time in Barcelona, although don´t dress too nice, as you will tend to get a bit nasty throughout the evening.

4. Razzmatazz – Certainly one of Barcelona’s most famous clubs, Razzmatazz offers 5 different rooms, each offering its own unique style and blend of music. An excellent venue, which brings in some of the biggest bands and Dj’s alike; just don’t get too drunk, as the venue is massive is size, thus complicating things a bit when you want to leave.

5. Harlem Jazz Club –  For a different side of Barcelona and for a taste of some Jazz, be sure to check out one of Barcelona’s coolest. Located in the heart of Gótico, the old gothic district, Harlem is a cool venue, where you can easily meet a friend, while making new ones, all the while enjoying a lively and vibrant atmosphere. Harlem tends to host more independent and up and coming artists, however nonetheless offering an excellent sound.

6. La Terrrazzza – Another open air club, excellent throughout the summer, La Terrrazzza is located in Poble Español, in the old fortified city, near to the castle. Offering nice techno and electronic music, the only downside is that it’s a bit small in size, making it difficult to find room to dance, as well as grab a drink.

7. Opium Mar/Shoko – Definitely a bit more posh, as well as touristic, Opium Mar and Shoko are two restaurants, turned clubs at night,  located right next to each other on Barcelona’s famous Villa Olimpica beach. As noted above, expect a touristy crowd however you can also find locals there as well, along with mainstream dance music and a lively atmosphere.

8. Moog – Located just off of Barcelona’s Rambla, in the Raval district, you can expect blasting, ear-drum breaking techno music, in a down and dirty club. Starts late and goes to the early morning, don’t expect to arrive before about 2 or 3 am.

9. Sutton – If attitude is what you’re looking for, then look no further than Sutton, otherwise known as “the club.” You can expect long cues, a strict dress code, and an attitude about the people that screams “I’m better than you.” Offerring main stream and popular dance music, just watch out for the “milfs,” as they have been known to frequent this club when they go on the prowl.

10. Sidecar Factory – Ideally located in the heart of the city in Barcelona’s Plaza Real, Sidecar Factory is a bar upstairs, with the club down below, typically offering rock and other alternative bands. Expect to dance to a dj playing tracks, if no live acts are in town.

So there you go. That was my list of some of the top clubs, worth checking out during your Barcelona holiday. Just don’t forget to book yourself an apartment in Barcelona, as you will surely need your rest after a night out at any of the aforementioned venues.

Please feel free to offer any more suggestions that you feel are relevant. Obviously Barcelona is a city that offers up a tremendous amount when it comes to nightlife that I surely haven’t been able to cover everything.
